Private by Design

How Aura protects your data, respects your boundaries, and stays wellness-first — not medical care.

Aura is built on a simple promise: this is your space. That means strong privacy, clear boundaries, and honest language about what Aura can and can’t do.

How Aura Protects Your Privacy and Data

From the moment you start using Aura, your information is treated with care.

Encryption, end-to-end Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access inside our systems is tightly restricted and audited. Only the services that need your data to function can see it.

Your conversations, your choice By default, Aura saves your text conversations to remember context and support long-term growth. You can:

  • Delete individual messages or journal entries
  • Clear parts of your history
  • Delete your account and associated data.

You stay in control of what stays and what goes.

Voice that doesn’t linger If you use voice, the audio is processed to generate a response and then discarded — unless you explicitly turn on a feature like saved voice notes. Voice recordings are never used to train models by default.

No selling your data. No third-party ad targeting. Aura does not sell your personal information or use your content for third-party targeted advertising. Your data isn’t a product.

Optional “Help improve Aura” setting If you choose to enable Help improve Aura, de-identified snippets of your text may be used to improve features and safety systems. Identifying details are removed, and voice audio is not used for this purpose. You can turn this off at any time.

Wellness, Not Therapy: What Aura Is (and Isn’t)

Aura is thoughtful by design—but it’s not a doctor, and it doesn’t pretend to be one.

What Aura is

Aura is:

  • A private space to check in with yourself
  • A companion that remembers what matters to you (if you allow it)
  • A source of prompts, reflections, and small next steps
  • A tool to help you understand patterns in your moods and experiences over time

It’s here to support everyday mental wellness and personal growth.

What Aura isn’t

Aura and Ash (Aura’s AI guide) are not:

  • A therapist, psychiatrist, or other medical professional
  • A provider of diagnosis or clinical treatment
  • A crisis or emergency service

If you’re in immediate danger or thinking about harming yourself, you should contact local emergency services or a crisis hotline right away.

Clear boundaries, by design

  • Aura avoids making clinical claims or telling you what diagnosis you “have.”
  • When things sound serious, Aura may gently encourage you to reach out to real-world professionals or trusted people in your life.
  • In rare situations and where legally allowed, limited information may be reviewed to help keep you safe and provide crisis resources—but Aura cannot contact emergency services on your behalf.

Trust as a Feature, Not an Afterthought

Being “private by design” means:

  • You always know what Aura is and what it isn’t
  • You can see, export, and delete your data.
  • Your information isn’t sold or used to target you with ads.
  • Safety and wellness are prioritized over engagement tricks.

Aura’s goal is simple: to give you a calm, dependable place to reflect and grow—on your terms, at your pace, with your privacy at the center.
